Hanging With Awesome Marsha

Bree and I went down to visit Awesome Marsha.
Of course, we had to go to the park. Bree took the opportunity to get some much needed swinging in. Awesome quickly became the designated pusher.
Bree started yelling out "Do the front Paul, Do the back Marsha". Ahem.
It just sounded so wrong.
Bree also did some leaf searching, and ended up finding the only dandelion left. How's that for luck? As for me, I found a pile of dog crap stuck to the bottom of my shoe.
How's that for MY luck?
Pretty crappy, pardon the pun.

The jungle gym was a hit. The two gals got all crazy.

Case in point: Bree sliding down the slide upside down. Definitely a daredevil...in addition to being a ham for the camera.

Above is Bree contemplating the poo on my shoe and wondering what she wanted to do next in the jungle gym.

We also went to an army / navy store. There was some awesome surplus stuff there. Above is Bree in a helmet from the Vietnam war. They are selling them for 22.00.

This statue intrigued Bree. Well not really. I just wanted a pic of her next to it.

Just Trying To Keep It Real

I've got five days off in a row.
Spending the nights with Bree at my side.
And we are getting crazy with it.
Bree is just trying to keep it real.
And so am I.

I'm sitting in George Bush Intercontinental airport right now.
I can't believe I made it in the rain storm without a hitch.
I still can't believe the machine is roasting parts and the project was signed off on.
Is there another shoe to drop, or a bubble to burst? We'll see.
Finally going home is a great thing.
There will be a more detailed post later.

Sunday, November 15, 2009

I'm taking just a few minutes this morning to sip some coffee and look out of my sliding glass doors.
Oh, and obviously I'm writing this short post.
There really isn't a great deal of traffic this morning, which is nice. And the temperature outside is a very comfortable 55, and will probably be higher later in the day. That'll be nice for Tree and Bree. They can go to the park or something and enjoy the weather.
Also, the weather reports for Texas are coming back absolutely beautiful. I'm happy to hear that, because the weather was a mite chilly when I was down there in January and February.
Wow, have I been working on this project for this long? Yes, and even longer than that.
I actually started working on this project unofficially in April of 2008, when there was very little work left on my first project at the time.
In other words, this project has been part of my life for quite a while. It predates all the major problems with The Black Granny, meeting Tree & Bree, and it even predates joining the 'Booger' and buying the Vmax.
I am looking forward to wrapping this project up.

Oh, and I am taking Theresa's GPS this time. So there won't be any funny stories about a whacky GPS starting up while I am on the plane (hopefully).

On The Isle

This area has been enjoying weather in the 50's and 60's for well over a week now.
Today was so beautiful, that we all decided to go to the isle. I have to say, it sure was nice to be there again since we hadn't gone in quite a while.
This was a great idea. It was a perfect way to spend time with my girls before leaving town.
This may seem cheesy, but it is the simple things like this that I think about when I am on the road. It's always the simple things in life that make the most impact.

Scary Santa

My day started all wrong. I was supposed to meet the Giant at work at 7:00AM. My cell phone woke me up at 7:15. Great.
After spending an hour at work I went over to Theresa's so that we could take Bree to see Santa at the mall. Bree had been wanting to see Santa for quite some time.
She was super pumped to go, and even put her shoes on by herself (now that's some serious excitement).
Things weren't too organized at the mall. The people putting on the show had to keep coming up with things to keep all the kids occupied, as Santa was going to be an entire hour late.
We went to a store and Theresa bought a dress for Bree, rather than waiting there for the whole hour. After getting back, Santa showed up shortly.
His elf helper looked like they found him under a bridge. And it took about a half hour for Santa to make it from his sleigh to the big green chair he was going to sit in (and it was only about 20 feet away).
Soon the line formed and Santa was seeing kids like an efficient machine. The line was making good pace. However, all the kids were naturally bored to tears from all the waiting, and were all running around like mad dogs. Bree was actually behaving.
Then all the running around turned bad, and a kid split his head wide open on one of the velvet rope posts. Not cool.
That situation was resolved after paramedics showed up, and the tough little guy actually walked out without help. Now that's a tough 6 year old.
After two hours overall, it was finally Bree's turn to meet Santa. I walked her up to him so that Theresa could get some pictures of her, and she hid behind my legs, refusing to see him. Theresa and I both tried to get her to talk to him, but she wouldn't.
So in the end...it was not a productive event.

First Day Of School!

Today was the first day of pre school for Bree.
She was pumped.
Her daily report card said that it was a great first day.
Of course it was. Bree is going to school now!
